Oxacillin sodium hydrate

Oxacillin sodium hydrate

CAS number
7240-38-2
Application
Beta-lactam antibiotic, which inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to the penicillin-binding proteins in the bacterial cell wall. Oxacillin has been used as a model for experimental studies of infectious diseases and as an analytical method for antibiotic sensitivity testing. The drug has been shown to have vancomycin-interactive effects and may be used in combination therapy with other antibiotics. Oxacillin sodium has also been shown to inhibit chemiluminescence activity in bacteria. This inhibition was due to its ability to bind to and inhibit the function of DNA polymerase, which is required for DNA replication. Oxacillin sodium can be used as an antibacterial agent through its ability to inhibit bacterial growth by binding to and inhibiting DNA polymerase activity.

SOCOSUR OEL/OEB Risk Assessments are a quick and efficient way to obtain:

  • Complete review of all relevant toxicological and medical databases as well as Material Safety Data Sheets and chemical books, in accordance with the regulations from National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), Naumann and Safebridge
  • A classification in four categories based on CLP Regulation and Naumann and Safebridge proposals
  • A rational for NOAEL values selection
  • Categorization for the specific work conditions

Benefits of such OEL/OEB Assessment

A 20 to 30 pages report signed by an European toxicological expert, optimized in case of Regulatory Body inspection, with all calculation details and all bibliographic references linked to these calculations, as well as all the development and results for the categorization of the product.
